Initiating a go-around means aborting the landing and transitioning to the missed approach. The proper callout to announce this action is “Go around” (often spoken as “Going around”), signaling to the crew and ATC that you’re climbing and configuring for the missed approach path. This distinguishes the action from a formal instrument missed-approach callout that’s used after reaching the MAP, and it’s different from continuing the approach or declaring landing. On a visual approach, saying “Go around” alerts everyone that you’ve decided not to land and are reconfiguring for climb and obstacle clearance, with the crew handling the pitch and power settings and the aircraft safely tracking the intended missed path.
